Allan Lofberg’s signature style encompasses both sophisticated abstraction and whimsical representation. His sweeping mark-making varies from muted to bright palettes with his graphic use of line. Usually in watercolor, Lofberg dissects the page with bold, curved latitudinal lines, almost recalling the horizon. He then fills these sections with soft, shifting color fields. His representational work, most often cats and birds, depicts the animals with round bodies and impossibly long limbs. Lofberg imbues his drawings with a unique quality, capturing the character of a creature with an economy of line and color.
